MANCHESTER TRIP
20th August 2003 - 27th August 2003
This text is taken from the New letter
As highlighted in the editorial, this issue is dedicated almost entirely to the trip made to Manchester in august y the under 10/12’s. I think that going through and the many photographs shown in this issue, one can get a very good idea of what was experienced by the group during this stay in Manchester.
The benefits to be derived from this trip by the nursery the children, and also the officials/coaches are numerous. For the record, this was not the first time we played against a foreign team. In fact, last season our under 9 played against a visiting team from Leeds U.K. at the Luxol grounds and our under 14 played in a tournament organised by our nursery against the under 14's from Pembroke Wales, both our teams obtaining very good results. But his was our first venture abroad playing and training on foreign grounds under different playing conditions laid out mainly by our hosts.
A few comments on the technical side of the matches played are in order. I Noticed that our boys especially the under 10's were not technically inferior, to our opponents, and were as strong in their tackles as the English boys. However, our opponents were faster to attack our post and ready to shoot from all angels and positions. They were also quicker to defend and tackle when the ball was lost by them. These are only a few remarks on which our coaches will surely concentrate during the season.
Encouraged by the comments received from the boys and the parents regarding this trip, we will be planning another one for this season although on a different scale.
A new season like a new year brings the hope of further improvements for our Nursery and our boys and further successes. Technical and the social programme prepared with help achieve our aims for this season as long as all concerned are ready to give their full support as has been the case up to now.
